We’ve all heard the expression, “dumb it down.” Many marketers take this to mean that in order to appeal to as many people as possible, we should use short sentences, use basic language, avoid challenging people’s concepts and use techniques like clickbait headlines. We believe that to get more people engaged, everything about our marketing should be brought down to the lowest common denominator, or in other words making it dumber. But, dO not confuse the word dumb with simpler. Dumb holds back and fails to teach. Simple is a matter of breaking something down into its smallest form. It removes the clutter and makes your message clearer.
