Laura Hajek is a popular pop musician who used to strive to receive likes and even hired an outside source, but to her dismay, Facebook likes and their importance has declined. In the past a “like” actually meant that someone liked what was being posted, but now a “like” can just be an affirmation of viewing the post which has decreased the credibility of a Facebook like. In an effort to combat fake likes, Facebook has had to re-evaluate and devalue a “like” inside their algorithm of what posts will show at the top of someone’s timeline.
